Inaugural Post
Hey There! I suppose this is my Hello World post!!
I am network and cloud engineer based in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The majority of my career has been in typical traditional network engineering roles configuring routers, switches, wireless, monitoring, VoIP, SD-WAN, etc., but over the last year have been attached to a cloud team working on GCP. The awesome part of that is that I get to learn and use an entirely new suite of tools and skills like the GCP Platform itself, CI/CD, Terraform, Python, and many others.
The goal of this blog is to post content that will be a mix of automation, python, cloud technologies, networking technologies and anything else that I seem to get interested in.
I’ll probably start off blogging about the very act of creating this blog in the first place. I was already planning to stand up a blog but then fortuitously came across this post by Forrest Brazeal so changed how I was going to do it. Although I don’t meet the requirements for the resume challenge laid out in the post since I have been in IT for a while, I thought it was a cool project in any case to take on. As such, I am going to host this blog mostly in AWS and try to use serverless where possible for various functions like the counter, and other things not called out like comments and email in general.
Goals
- Improve my writing skills through presenting on a variety of topics
- Share cool stuff with the community that I discover along the way and hopefully get constructive feedback
- Solidify learning in various topics just by the very nature of creating posts in public
- Have fun doing all of the above! (Hopefully)
